Tales from the Tail — The New Approach to Anal Bleaching
April 01, 2020 by Dr. Evan Goldstein
I was always self-conscious about my butt, being a bottom and all. Was it cute? Was it tight enough? Was it too tight? There are so many things for us bottoms to worry about. And then something else came up that made me worry: color. You hear more and more people talking about wanting a “nice, pink hole”, especially within the gay community. Great. Let me add that to my list: Is my hole pink enough?
While I have always been confident with my skills in the bedroom, I’m not always as sure about its appearance. And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with wanting to feel good about how your butt looks. It’s not as much about satisfying my partners as it is about my own wants and needs to feel confident. So many people — whether peers, medical professionals, or aestheticians — don’t understand why someone would care so much about a place very few people see. But when you get as much happiness and pleasure out of this part of the body as I do, who are they to judge?
So let’s start at the beginning. I found Bespoke Surgical and Dr. Goldstein because I was feeling pain and minor bleeding whenever I bottomed and sometimes after trips to the bathroom. After a consultation, I was told I had an anal fissure. When I learned that I would need to undergo surgery, my mind immediately went to: would this leave a scar or discoloration, or just make my hole look weird? My self-consciousness kicked into overdrive and nothing had even happened yet! But a bottom’s gotta do what a bottom’s gotta do. Luckily, after my surgery with Dr. Goldstein, there wasn’t any noticeable scar or major discoloration, but then again, I wasn’t the one who was going to be putting my face all up in there.
Fast forward to my rehabilitation. I wanted to make sure my hole was as cute as it could be. Since I was working my muscles back up to where they were before my surgery, now was the time to ensure I was doing everything I could to make myself look and feel the best I could. Once I was fully healed and ready to hop back onto the saddle, I didn’t know where to turn for help with my natural discoloration. I had heard horror stories from friends who went to places that had used harsh bleaching chemicals — old school anal bleaching — and I knew I definitely didn’t want those on my newly healed hole. Protect The Queen at all costs!! I was turned off to the idea of anal bleaching because I associated it with strong, toxic chemicals that would peel my skin and burn my hole. I realized that my idea of this treatment was sort of outdated. With all of the innovations in skincare we’ve had in this past decade alone, there are constantly more products coming out that are safer for us while still giving the results we all want. I just had to find the right place that used the right products for me.
You can imagine that when I heard Bespoke Surgical was expanding into anal aesthetics and offering pre-launch treatments for a few people that my booty was winking with joy. I immediately made an appointment for anal pigment lightening and was surprised by how gentle the treatment was. The day after my first session, I noticed some slight peeling that stopped after a shower. The craziest part, though? I actually noticed there was a visible smoothness to the shades of my hole and inner cheek. The skin seemed brighter after just one treatment! After my third session, I was boasting to all my friends and “friends” about how pink my hole was now. The peel that Bespoke Surgical uses helps to give a natural fade from the hole itself, out to the natural skin tone of the cheek. I feel so much more confident now before hopping into bed with someone. Whether you’re curious about it for your own preference or your partner’s, it’s never too late to try.
Everyone asks me: what does the perfect ass look like? And my response probably isn’t what they’re expecting (or looking for) because I answer with another question: God-given or man-made? There’s no doubt I see tons of assholes — literally and figuratively — but my overall mission hasn’t changed, which is to continue to focus on both functionality and aesthetics. Over the past ten years, I have worked first to define the issues at hand (mental, psychosocial, and physical) and then plot a course for corrective action. Our uses and misuses are part of our identity and that’s why it is imperative that we create appropriate, high-level, individualized anal services. To me, this is a given.
Like most modern sexual curiosities, the idea of anal bleaching came from porn. In the early 2000’s, you could see the trend of guys holes looking prettier than ever — all with that perfect pinky hue. Much like any other body part, society creates a perception of what makes certain body parts attractive. But, of course, there are many perceptions of beauty and people respond differently to each. Generally speaking, most of the body parts that are “folds of skin” tend to be higher concentrated in melanocytes, the cells that are responsible for creating melanin, which is the pigment in our skin. That’s why you’ll notice that your elbows, knees, armpits, inner legs, and yes, your asshole, may be darker in tone than the rest of your body. This is particularly more noticeable in people of color. The asshole also tends to get darker in color because of friction in the area from anal play and wiping, which activates the activity of the melanoctyes to produce more melanin.
The patient in this story is very much correct that previous anal bleaching practices were very harsh and aggressive and often led to irritation and sometimes even chemical burns. Luckily, here at Bespoke Surgical, we’re all about modern and innovative solutions for the asshole, whether that’s surgical or cosmetic. We use a kojic acid-based chemical peel that is designed for the intimate areas of the body, including your asshole. The peel is designed to be done as a series. Most people require a treatment once a week for 5 weeks to lighten up their hole up to 6 shades. After a series, some guys will do a maintenance treatment once or twice a year.
Anal bleaching / pigment lightening is a perfect way to enhance and highlight your assets, either by simply brightening your hole’s hue or by helping blend blemishes or scars that have developed throughout your life. The key to achieving a better behind is by paying attention to two things: the active ingredients and the professional performing the treatment. Understanding your anatomy and overall skin type, and matching it with its native creases, is imperative for an elevated outcome. And since you trust us with our surgical approach to anal beautification, why not expand into aesthetic services?
Being able to express ourselves sexually plays such a crucial part in our overall wellbeing. So it should go without saying that we should feel confident and be happy with how all parts of our body look and feel — whatever that means for you and only you — and if not, then there are ways to change that. And sometimes it’s about pleasing your partner(s) as well. We at Bespoke Surgical believe hole-heartedly in offering the aesthetic specialties in a nonjudgmental and understanding setting. No where else will they take into account all the different facets of our community in order to give you the customized care you deserve.
Life is too short to sacrifice any part of our sexuality. Be open, to the new Bespoke approach to sexual wellness.
